The Energy Tree Game we built with Mengting Sun is being heavily used by educators in the SFU PICS science day-long outreach workshops on energy. These workshops bring in a class of middle-school students for a day of exploring all aspects of energy in daily life, from large scale issues of where it comes from to implications for climate change.

  • Here’s what one of the coordinators had to say recently: “We have been using the game in the energy workshops, the students really enjoy the game, and most importantly the key message of reducing electricity consumption is getting across. Each child have the opportunity to play the game and his/her peers usually jump in to help, usually the first child to play score low and by the end of the session (group of 5 or 6 children), children are scoring 8 or 10.”
  • and one of the teachers called it a “terrific game we played today. It really is a fantastic resource”.
